2019 LIFEGUARD TRAINING
Mobridge Aquatic Center is offering Training for American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
Participants must be at least 15 years of age and pass the Red Cross swimming requirements listed below to receive certification. Registration fee of $180.00 due at the time of enrollment. Deadline to register for class is May 15th, 2019.
The online portion of the training must be completed before the start of the classes.
Classes include video, group discussion and hands-on training, first aid instruction and CPR/AED/Lifeguard Certification which will be valid for two years.
Lifeguard Certification Prerequisite Swimming Skills
· Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control & rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl and/or breaststroke.
· Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
· Timed Event: Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke, retrieve a 10 lb brick from 10 – 12 ft depth, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to starting point with the brick, exit the water using the ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Course Date Options
May 18 – 19 (Sat/Sun), Day 1: 8 am – 8 pm, Day 2: 8 am – 5 pm
May 21 – 22 (Tues/Wed), Day 1: 8 am – 8 pm, Day 2: 8 am – 5 pm
(All courses will have breaks, including lunch and dinner times)
